The 17th International Conference on Alzheimer's disease and Dementia is a great opportunity to learn about the latest advances in Alzheimer’s and research. The conference will also feature a variety of educational and scientific sessions on Alzheimer’s & dementia disease.

A recent study presented at the Alzheimers Disease – 2023 found that people who a Mediterranean diet is associated with a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease and dementia. A Mediterranean diet has also been associated with improved cognition in people at risk for heart and other vascular disease.  According to the NCBI, Alzheimer's disease will affect about 6.2 million people over the age of 65 in the United States in 2021, and is expected to rise to about 13.8 million by 2060.

A simple blood test that can detect Alzheimer's disease years before symptoms appear may be one step closer to reality as researchers develop new ways to detect Alzheimer's disease early. Focuses on the amyloid-beta protein, which is a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease and becomes misfolded and begins to aggregate in the brain. Previously, it could only be found during autopsy. Now they are often revealed by advanced imaging techniques.

This is just one of many studies that have found a link between a Mediterranean diet and a reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease & Dementia. . A study has found that daily intake of green tea and occasionally a glass of red wine can help reduce plaque in the brain associated with Alzheimer's disease.
